Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage

Staithes Festival has established itself as one of the friendliest festival on the coast – a must-see event in the regional arts calendar.

During the weekend the doors of cottages in the village are thrown open as pop-up art galleries in a unique selling exhibition.

The heritage of Staithes is celebrated through a programme of walks, talks, historic photographs, film shows, and a demonstration of how to make a lobster pot!

Optimistic representational art inspired by small scenes and a close observation of nature. My work looks to find beauty in our daily environments, and embodies a delight with decorative objects. I use large areas of gold leaf, with tactile textures and an individually aged patina, combined with painted plants or creatures. I also love to examine small interiors or landscapes, focusing in on books especially as one of my favourite subject matters. My ultimate aim is to make uplifting work that connects us to the world around us.
