During the weekend the doors of cottages in the village are thrown open as pop-up art galleries in a unique selling exhibition.

The heritage of Staithes is celebrated through a programme of walks, talks, historic photographs, film shows, and a demonstration of how to make a lobster pot!

James Lives and works on the Northern edge of the North York Moors, responding to his environment, creating paintings to celebrate this unique landscape. James aims to convey a sense of place, by conjuring with paint. ‘I search for subjects that inspire, looking for a ‘Light’. I return to familiar places and with luck, I try to capture a moment. My process involves layers of paint, to achieve depth, I am continually thrilled by the magical quality of paint. I am attempting to express my visceral connection to the North York Moors.’
